Frenectomy is a procedure involving the removal of a frenulum which is a small tissue that prevents the tongue or lip from moving freely. Prior to surgery it can cause a patient to experience certain speech, eating and orthodontic problems.
What is the recovery process?
After a frenectomy procedure, our dentists will prescribe you with antibiotics to prevent infection or complications. The area should begin to heal after 2-3 days and a scar will form in the area.
A frenectomy is usually performed on the soft tissue attachments “frenums” which attach your upper lip to your gums or your tongue to the floor of your mouth.
